ABOUT THE BOOK

My First Finance Book was originally written for the author’s young son after he discovered nothing comparable on the market. The intention of the book was to sow the seeds of curiosity in his child’s mind about concepts like money & investing. With the proliferation of defined contribution retirement plans (such as 401k’s), consumer-driven health plans, health savings accounts and now health care trusts, an unprecedented amount of financial responsibility is being shifted to individuals. The need for an early education in finance is greater than ever before!

Childhood development experts point out how readily young children absorb even the most sophisticated of concepts. Just by reading to our children we can positively impact their development & knowledge base – almost effortlessly! It is through parent-child interaction & play that young children truly learn.

My First Finance Book is meant to be a primer – it is by no means all-inclusive. The book covers only the most basic investment vehicles – cash, stocks and bonds. By sticking to the basics and keeping it short, the hope is that your child will grasp these concepts and terminology in a casual way.

My First Finance Book is meant to be for all ages; toddlers as well as adolescents can benefit from this book. Parents may even find they’ve learned something! We have also developed a parent's guide as a free download to expand on, and hopefully facilitate, additional discussion about the topics presented in the book.
